Introduction to the crater: As the magma from the ground rushes out and burns the water that seeps into the ground into steam, the Ubehebe Crater, which is half a mile wide and 500 feet deep, is a famous attraction in Death Valley. Looking down from the edge of the volcano, you can still vaguely see the smoke from the explosion, and bright wildflowers and plants grow at the bottom. In winter, the snow-capped mountains in the distance contrast with the red color of the crater, creating a special scene of contrasting hot and cold temperatures.
