Introduction to New Street: After passing Amai Square and "Vimmelskaftet" (Vimmelskaftet), you will arrive at "New Street" (Nygade). At the intersection of New Street is a long square, with half of it on the right It is called "Old Square" (Gammeltorv), and the left half is called "New Square" (Nytorv). The pedestrian street passes right in the middle of these two squares.
Old Square is the oldest market in Copenhagen and was once the center of the city in the Middle Ages. The area between these two squares is where Copenhagen's old city hall is located.
