Introduction to Wenwu Hall: Wenwu Hall is the second largest building in Yunyan Temple. It was rebuilt in the seventh year of Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (AD 1742). It was named after the original sculptures of Guan Yu and Wenchang. There was originally a Jinshui Bridge under the stage, with tall ancient cypresses on both sides, but it collapsed during the Cultural Revolution. It was rebuilt again in 1989. The current hall is dedicated to Wenchang, Wusheng Emperor and the twelve-year-old god. The twelve-year-old gods are also called the protectors of the twelve zodiac signs, which are: 1. Rat - Thousand-Armed Avalokitesvara, 2. Ox - Treasure-born Buddha, 3. Tiger - Void Bodhisattva, 4. Rabbit - Manjusri Bodhisattva, 5 , Dragon - Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, 6. Snake - Maitreya Buddha, 7. Horse - Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, 8. Sheep - Great Sun Tathagata, 9. Monkey - Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, 10. Rooster - Peacock King Ming , 11. Dog-Amitabha, 12. Pig-Sakyamuni Buddha.
