Introduction to Darwin Island: In 1835, 26-year-old Charles Darwin followed a British naval survey ship named the "Beagle" to the Galapagos Islands. He spent more than a month on the island. He collected specimens over time, which provided the impetus and confidence for his book "The Origin of Species by Natural Selection" published in 1859. A bronze bust monument was built on the island to commemorate Darwin. People also named the island where he studied birds "Darwin Island".
