Introduction to ancient quarries and obelisks: The ancient Egyptian quarry ruins were built along the Nile River and are about 6 kilometers long. A kind of pink granite is specially produced here. It is said that the stone in ancient Egypt was mined here and transported to various places via waterways. There is a famous obelisk in the quarry site, which was made in the New Kingdom. This is an unfinished monument. When cracks were found on the top of the stone, the inscription was stopped and it was abandoned in the quarry.
