Introduction to the Green Water Garden: The Green Water Garden was designed by Le Nôtre. The two large rectangular pools in the garden are sparkling, illuminating the front of the mirror gallery and seeming to be an extension of the front of the castle. The sculpture decorations in the garden were designed by Xia Xia at that time. Designed and directed by Le Brun, it includes four lying sculptures based on French rivers, as well as four fairy statues and four groups of children.
The Green Water Garden is inseparable from the two fountains known as the "War of the Animals" completed in 1687, which surround the large staircase that descends to the Latona Pool. Six allegorical statues decorate the building: air, night, noon and dawn, spring and water.
