Introduction to the large statue of Mao Zedong: On February 13, 1958, Chairman Mao Zedong came to inspect the West Open-pit Mine. To commemorate the Chairman's visit, a commemorative bronze statue of Chairman Mao inspecting the West Open-pit Mine was erected in the square in front of the museum.
