Introduction to the lobby on the first floor: The Gansu Provincial Museum was formerly the Gansu Science Education Center established in 1939. It was renamed the National Gansu Science Education Center in 1943 and the Northwest People's Science Museum in 1950. In 1956, it was changed to Gansu Provincial Museum.
