Introduction to Tzu Chi Temple: Tzu Chi Temple is located to the north of the Jade Emperor Pavilion of Gexian Temple. It was built in the 30th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1593 AD). Its orientation is opposite to that of Gexian Temple. Because the Gexian Hall was overcrowded at that time, in order to prevent trouble, the Taoist priests invited equally influential monks to set up a branch and co-organize temple fairs. As a result, the religious and cultural characteristics of one mountain and two religions, Taoism and Buddhism, coexisted.
