Introduction to Gonggar Temple: The old Gonggar Temple is located at the foot of the main peak of Gonggar Mountain, in Liuba Township, Kangding County. It was founded by the second Karmapa. It was built in 1285 by Karmapa Xi's direct disciple Zhababa (the first Kunga Living Buddha). It was severely damaged during the Cultural Revolution and was rebuilt by Tibetans only after the Third Plenary Session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in 1978.
