Introduction to South Pacific Memorial Park: South Pacific Memorial Park was once one of the fiercest battlefields at the end of World War II. The site of the park was the last headquarters of the Japanese army, garrisoned by General Hideyoohi Obata. During the four-year Pacific War, more than 500,000 U.S. and Japanese soldiers and local residents died. This park commemorates these dead soldiers and civilians, and also symbolizes the determination of the two countries to promote friendship and world peace.
