Introduction to Gwanghwamun: To the east of Gyeongbokgung Palace is Geonchunmun, to the west is Yeongchomun, to the north is Shenmumun, and to the south (main gate) is Gwanghwamun. Gwanghwamun was built in 1395 during the reign of King Taejo of the Joseon Dynasty and is located at the main entrance of Gyeongbokgung Palace. As the "national gate" in the hearts of Koreans, Gwanghwamun has experienced many wars, one relocation, two destructions, and three reconstructions.
