Introduction to Harbin Military Industry: "Harbin Military Industry" is the Chinese People's Liberation Army Military Engineering College, the predecessor of Harbin Engineering University. Because the school is located in Harbin, it is called "Harbin Military Industry". The school was founded by General Chen Geng in 1952. Ground was broken in April 1953. The first opening ceremony was held on September 1. Chen Geng served as the first dean and political commissar of Harbin Military Industry. In 1966, Harbin Military Industry was renamed Harbin Engineering Institute, and later renamed the current Harbin Engineering University.
