Introduction to cafes along the highway: This unique cafe is located in a small town in Litchfield. From 1926 to 1984, this highway was the main thoroughfare from Chicago to Los Angeles. In order to promote the economic prosperity of the town, local residents lobbied hard to have Route 66 pass through this place. After the interstate was built, Route 66's original status was replaced, and the cafe went out of business. It is now in disrepair and the door is closed. But it still maintains its former appearance.
