Introduction to the Walk of Fame: The Hollywood Walk of Fame was founded in 1958 to commemorate artists who have made great contributions to the entertainment industry. The avenue is jointly maintained by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and the self-funded Hollywood Historical Trust. The first star was awarded to American Oscar-winning actress Joanne Woodward on February 9, 1960.
