Introduction to the San Jacinto Ancient Battlefield: The San Jacinto Ancient Battlefield is about 26 kilometers away from Houston. It was the place where General Houston led his army in a fierce battle with the Mexican army in 1836 to fight for the independence of Texas. It is now a state park.
