Introduction to the New and Old Red Gates: The New and Old Red Gates are the double gates of the mausoleum. Their location is very unique among the imperial mausoleums of the Ming Dynasty. The Old Red Gate was built in the fourth year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty. It is the second portal of the Xianling Mausoleum and the main entrance on the central axis. In order to keep his father's cemetery under tight security, Emperor Jiajing specially built a red gate to the south of the Old Red Gate. The door is called the new red door. The New Red Gate was built in the 18th year of Jiajing reign in the Ming Dynasty. It is the first gate of Xianling Mausoleum. It is deviated from the central axis and looks like the tail of a Shinto dragon.
