Introduction to Three Arches: Three Arches is the main gate and landmark building of the school. It was built in the early 1980s. The overall design of the arch combines traditional cultural connotation and modern aesthetic flavor, and has unique and rich connotations. It represents that Xiangtan University is a comprehensive university of liberal arts, science, and engineering; it embodies the traditional philosophical thought of "one is born with two, two begets three, and three begets all things", which indicates the unlimited potential of the school's interdisciplinary development of liberal arts, science, and engineering; It implies academic freedom, equality and fraternity, and the pursuit of limitless rational thinking, and demonstrates the education concept of integrating knowledge and action, both political integrity and talent, and the integration of emotion and reason. Viewed as a whole, the arch resembles the Chinese character "mountain", symbolizing continuous progress and courage. Climb to the top. Each arch that reaches directly to the clouds and opens at the top is like a key to the palace of knowledge, which means that learning and research will never end in the process of exploring unknown fields; and when viewed alone, each arch looks like the Chinese character "人", and the three arches represent Three people form a unit and unite as one, highlighting the spirit of teamwork; at the same time, "when three people work together, there must be my teacher Yan". Xiangda people must maintain a style of being neither arrogant nor impetuous and constantly enterprising.
