Introduction to the Stone Arch: The marble palace gate in the northeast corner of the park was originally the stone arch in front of Buckingham Palace. Due to the narrow door opening, it was demolished to Hyde Park during the expansion of Buckingham Palace in 1851, adding a new scene to Hyde Park.
