Side view of Dongming Temple: It is reported that after the Japanese invaders set fire to the temple, the fire continued for two days, leaving only three side rooms. What is currently said to be the relic of Dongming Temple is the golden and silver osmanthus planted by Emperor Jianwen. Although only the trunk remained after being burned, it survived the disaster and filled the fields with fragrance every autumn. Its flowers were half gold and silver, which is said to be a legend.
