Introduction to the buildings in the museum area: The memorial hall is a two-story building with upper and lower floors. The entire house is made of fine workmanship, with carved beams and painted pillars, and is simple and elegant. Although the memorial hall looks a little out of place with the surrounding residential buildings, it is a miracle that it has been preserved. It is said that the Gong family was a wealthy family in ancient times. They moved to the south to escape the war. By the time of Gong Zizhen, the entire family had been living in Jiangnan for 400 years. Later, due to the turmoil of the times, only this two-story building remained from the entire Gong family. During the Cultural Revolution, it was occupied by street factories and was so dilapidated that it almost collapsed. After the reform and opening up, Hangzhou began to pay more attention to the humanistic value of this old house, which is why today's "Gong Zizhen Memorial Hall" was established.
