Introduction to the Blue Mosque (BasilicaCistern): is the work of Mehmet Aga, the proud disciple of Sinan, the best architect in the Islamic world. It is also one of the most important buildings in Istanbul. Built in 1609, the walls of the mosque are all decorated with blue and white Iznik tiles, and there are six minarets surrounding the huge original roof. It is also one of the top ten wonders of the world. Not a single nail was used to build the Blue Mosque, and it has survived several earthquakes without collapsing. 260 small windows, more than 20,000 blue tiles, carpets and Arabic calligraphy art are important highlights of the temple.
