Introduction to the Golden Horn: is an elongated bay on the west coast of the southern entrance of the Bosporus. It is about 7 kilometers long and is angular in shape. It divides the European part of Istanbul into two. It is one of the world's premier natural harbors. The coast is dyed golden in the sunset and is dotted with beautiful parks and coastal walks. Around Fener and Balat, there are many wooden houses, churches, synagogues, etc. from the Byzantine and Ottoman eras.
