Introduction to Mount Zion: Mount Zion (Dormition Abbey) is located south of Jerusalem and is a holy land for Christians. Mount Zion has two important attractions: one is the Tomb of David, which is still a sacred place for the Jews. In front of the tomb of King David, Jews wearing traditional clothes, lighting candles, chanting and praying, exuded pious salutes on their faces. The light is enough to move people in thousands of ways. The second is Mark’s Tower. Mark’s Tower on Mount Zion is the building where the Last Supper was held. The building was originally built in the Crusader era and has beautiful arched lines. When Islam occupied Mount Zion in the 15th century, it was converted into a mosque and Christians and Jews were prohibited from entering for about five centuries. In addition, there is Domitian Church, which is the landmark of Mount Zion. It is a Benedictine church with a domed bell tower and is said to be the place where the Virgin Mary died. In the basement of the church there is a statue of the reclining Virgin Mary entering eternal sleep.
