Introduction to the ruins of the Red Army's battle to cross the Wujiang River: The ruins of the Red Army's battle to cross the Wujiang River are located in the Youjiaba and Laojie areas, 48 kilometers away from the county seat. The Jiangjie River Ferry has a wide surface, deep water and fast currents, and green mountains on both sides. It is called the "Wujiang Moat". Since ancient times, wars in Guizhou Province have been fought here. Since the Ming Dynasty, more than 20 wars have occurred here. It was here that the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army's Long March crossed the Wujiang River, captured Zunyi, and held the world-famous Zunyi Conference.
In January 1935, the Houchang Conference reiterated the decision to "Reduce Northern Guizhou." Under the leadership of Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, and Zhu De, Marshal Liu Bocheng directly commanded the Wujiang Battle to successfully cross the Wujiang River. This was the first victory of the Red Army since the Long March. The battle was won, and the famous generals who participated in the battle included Zhang Yunyi, Liu Yalou, Chen Guang, Yang Chengwu, Geng Biao, etc. The ruins include old Guizhou fortresses, trenches, and the Red Army pontoon bridge formation site.
