Introduction to Tongguanyin Temple: Tongguanyin Temple, formerly known as Guangfu Lecture Temple, was built in the second year of Tianjian (503) in the Liang Dynasty. It has a history of more than 1,500 years. It was once used as a place for eminent monks to lecture and teach. It reached its peak during the Tang Dynasty. It is located at the lower street of the southern foot of Guishan, Guangfu Town, Wuzhong District, Suzhou. Because there was a Bronze Guanyin statue enshrined in the temple, it was also called Bronze Guanyin Temple. At present, the preserved buildings include the main hall, the Western Hall, the temple bridge and the Guangfu Pagoda. The temple bridge built across the river in front of the temple is very simple. The bridge is 16.1 meters long and 3.05 meters wide. It is of beam type. The edges on both sides are made of Wukang stone. It is carved with double dragons playing with beads and swastika patterns. It is well crafted and is an old thing from the Song Dynasty. As the oldest temple in Wudi, it, together with the Song Dynasty stone bridge in front of the temple, the Guangfu Ancient Pagoda on the top of the mountain behind the temple, and the antique steles and inscriptions on the corridor walls of the temple, have become important and precious cultural relics in Suzhou.
