Introduction to the former site of the British Consulate: The former site of the British Consulate is located at the foot of Dongta Mountain on Jiangxin Island. In the second year of Guangxu's reign in the Qing Dynasty, China and Britain signed the "Sino-British Yantai Treaty". Wenzhou opened as a port the following year. The British government settled in Dongfeng in 1894. During the Xinzuo period in the southwest, a three-story Western-style building was built as a consulate. The following year, three two-story buildings were built in the east as a patrol room. The two floors have both European architectural heritage and the charm of Renaissance folk architectural art. It is now converted into a sanatorium for city workers.
