Introduction to Wukong Temple: Wukong Temple was built on the initiative of Xiao Yan, Emperor Wu of Liang Dynasty in the Southern Dynasty. It was formerly known as Zhaoyin Temple. In the fifth year of Taiping and Xingguo's reign in the Northern Song Dynasty (AD 980), Zhao Kuangyi, Emperor Taizong of the Song Dynasty, changed Zhaoyin Temple into Wukong Temple. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Wukong Temple was built and destroyed many times. In 1924, the Huazang Pagoda collapsed and the Wukong Temple became a ruin. On December 23, 2004, the foundation stone of Wukong Temple was laid and rebuilt, and it has become the most important religious site in Jiangyin today.
