Introduction to the Catholic Church: Jilin Catholic Church stands on the beautiful Songhua River, north of the majestic Jilin Bridge. In the 24th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1898), Fathers Lan Luye and Joseph Gu of the French Catholic Foreign Missions Society in Paris came to Jilin City from Changchun to preach. In the 28th year of Guangxu (1902), the land occupied by the main church was purchased and preparations for the construction of a Catholic church began. Construction started in 1917, took 10 years, and was completed in the 15th year of the Republic of China (Bingyin 1926).
