Introduction to the Modern History Exhibition: Jilin City is a famous historical and cultural city in China and one of the birthplaces of the Manchu people. Its original name is "Jilin Wula", which is Manchu and means "city along the river". From the 15th century to the first half of the 20th century, Jilin City was an important political, economic, cultural, and military center in Northeast China. Earlier, it was the early royal city of the Gu Fuyu Kingdom.
