Introduction to the Main Hall: The main hall has polished bricks with seams, a hilly roof, ridged eaves, carved beams and painted buildings, and is magnificent. The four ridges are carved with sea-watching monkeys, howling dogs and other mythical beasts, in various poses and lifelike shapes. Eight golden dragons protrude from the upturned eaves at the ends of the ridge. The dragon's head is held high, its mouth is opened to the sky, a copper ring is inlaid under the chin, and bells are hung on the ring. The bells jingle in the wind.
