Introduction to the flag-raising and lowering ceremony: The Golden Bauhinia Square holds a flag-raising ceremony at 8 a.m. and a flag-lowering ceremony at 6 p.m. every day. On the morning of the 1st of each month, 15 police officers in uniform will host a special flag-raising ceremony at the Golden Bauhinia Square, with the police bagpipe band playing the national anthem and background music in a unique style.
Every year on the anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong SAR on July 1 and China’s National Day on October 1, a grand flag-raising ceremony will be held here. The chief executive of the SAR will lead the main officials of the SAR government to attend, and a phalanx of helicopters from the Flying Service will be held low. Flying over the square, the fire boat will also perform a water spray show, attracting a large number of citizens and tourists to watch.
