Introduction to the fortress ruins: Hutou Military Fortress is located in the mountains, on the bank of the Ussuri River on the national border. It is the core of the fourteen fortress groups built by the Japanese invaders on the Sino-Soviet border. It is a massive project with complete facilities. It was built by forcing more than 12,000 Chinese laborers and prisoners of war. The fortress is easy to defend but difficult to attack, and was boasted by the Japanese army as the "Oriental Maginot Line of Defense" and the "Permanent Fortress of Northern Manchuria."
