Introduction to the Forest Museum: When you get off the cruise ship, next to the pier is the cable car that goes straight up to Mount Roberts, which is about 2,000 feet high. Halfway up the mountain is the most important Juneau gold mine site during the heyday of the gold rush. There is a forest museum on the top of the mountain. It also displays various Aboriginal crafts and overlooks the entire Juneau Valley surrounded by Mount Juneau and Douglas Island.
