Introduction to Yining City: In 1759 AD, the 24th year of Qianlong's reign, the Qing army put down the "Big and Small Hojia Rebellion" and unified the entire Xinjiang. Soon, Yonggui, the minister responsible for the garrison in Kashgar, wrote to the imperial court, requesting that a new city be built as the official residence of the imperial court in Kashgar. Construction started in April 1762, and by the end of August, the new city was completed. In the 9th year of the construction of the new city, that is, 1771, Emperor Qianlong wrote a personal letter and named the new city "Leining City" to appease all ethnic groups and people in the border areas to live and work in peace and contentment.
