Introduction to Zhigongtang: Zhigongtang, located at Cuiyingmen in Lanzhou City, was the examination hall of Gongyuan in the Qing Dynasty. During the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty (1862-1874), Zuo Zongtang, the governor of Shaanxi and Gansu, wrote to the Qing court requesting the establishment of a Gongyuan in Lanzhou, which was approved. In the first year of Guangxu (1875), the Gongyuan was completed. At that time, the site was 140 feet long and 90 feet wide. It was said to be able to accommodate 4,000 candidates. Zuo Zongtang inscribed a plaque "Zhigongtang". In 1909, under the New Deal of the late Qing Dynasty, Gansu School of Law and Politics was established here, which was the beginning of Lanzhou University.
