Introduction to the Hooglandse Kerk: The Hooglandse Kerk is a Gothic church. The church was originally a wooden chapel and was built on December 20, 1314 by order of the Catholic Bishop of Utrecht. Later, with the population growth and economic prosperity of Leiden, a larger building was built in 1391, and the cloister was completed in 1415.
