Introduction to Dolma Lhakhang: Dolma Lhakhang, commonly known as Nietang Temple, was built in memory of the eminent Bangladeshi monk Atisha. In the 11th century AD, the famous Bengali monk Atisha was invited to preach in Lhasa and lived here until his death in 1054. The disciples built a temple here in memory. Because it is dedicated to the bronze statue of Tara (that is, the Dolma Buddha statue) that Atisha carried with him during his lifetime, it was named Dolma Lhakhang, also known as Nietang Tara Hall. The existing Tara Hall was built by Rezin in the 1930s. The living Buddha presided over the reconstruction, but the original shape is no longer understandable. Nietang Temple is located in Niedang Township, Qushui County, 30 kilometers southwest of Lhasa, Tibet.
