Introduction to Feng Zicai’s former residence: Feng Zicai’s former residence is located in Baishuitang Community, Qinzhou City. The gatehouse and main building are still preserved in the old residence, covering an area of ​​152,200 square meters. It is a typical southern mansion complex in the late Qing Dynasty.
Zicai Mansion was built in 1875, covering an area of ​​more than 7,000 square meters, including three hills, shaped like a crouching tiger. The main building area is 2,100 square meters, located on the central hill; the building is surrounded by walls. It is divided into three entrances, each with three buildings and three rooms in each building, forming a so-called "three rows of nine" architectural pattern with ancient characteristics, which can be independent and interconnected; there is a newly built forest of steles at the east end of the courtyard, with beautiful handwriting and vigorous brushwork. Feng Zicai (1818-1903), courtesy name Nanqian, was a native of Qinzhou, Guangdong (now part of Guangxi), and a famous general who fought against the French in the late Qing Dynasty. After the Sino-French War broke out, 67-year-old veteran Feng Zicai led his army to the expedition. On March 23, 1885, he annihilated the main force of the French army invading the border at the battle of Zhennanguan Pass, and won a victory that was famous both at home and abroad. Great victory at Zhennanguan. After the victory, Feng Zicai was successively transferred to the admiral of Yunnan and Guizhou. In 1903, he served as Minister of Military Affairs of Guangxi Province. He died of illness soon after and was given the posthumous title of "Yongyi".
