Introduction to Guanyin Temple Stone Pagoda: In addition to Longshan Tower, Ruian City now also retains Guanyin Temple Stone Pagoda. It is located on the west side of Guanyin Temple at the southern foot of Wansong Mountain. It was originally called Thousand Buddha Pagoda. It was built in the first to fourth years of Xining in the Northern Song Dynasty (1068-1071) and has a history of more than 900 years. This tower is a dense-layer eaves tower with imitation wood structure, which faithfully imitates the form of a pavilion-style wooden tower. It is solid, made of pyrophyllite rock, and has a hexagonal plane. It was originally seven stories high, but the top floor collapsed and now it has six stories, 7.8 meters high. The width of each layer of the tower is equal and does not shrink layer by layer, which is contrary to the normal situation of Song pagodas. From the bottom layer to the top layer, the width of each layer is equal. There are 472 large and small relief Buddha statues remaining in the pagoda. They are in various poses and shapes, and are lifelike. They are treasures of ancient sculpture art. They have important reference value for the study of Song Dynasty architecture and Buddhist sculpture art. In addition, there are 68 inscriptions on the statues left in the pagoda, totaling about 2,500 words. The number of inscriptions is rare in Zhejiang Province.
