Pak Ou Caves Introduction: Pak Ou Caves (Pak Ou Caves) is about 25km away from the ancient city of Luang Prabang. The grotto consists of two caves, the lower grotto is on the mountainside and is called Tham Ting, and the upper grotto is on the top of the mountain and is called Tham Phoum. The Bawu Grottoes were built centuries ago. Due to geological movement and rain erosion, they were buried by collapsed mud and stone. They were later discovered by a foreign tourist and were rebuilt. There are tens of thousands of Buddha statues enshrined in the two grottoes, of which more than 8,000 are registered. This was once the place where kings prayed for rain.
