Introduction to Lotus Cave: Lotus Cave is named after a large lotus carved in high relief on the top of the cave. It was excavated around the Northern Wei Dynasty. On the main wall of the cave are a Buddha, two disciples and two Bodhisattvas. The main image is a standing statue of Sakyamuni.
The smallest Buddha statue in the Longmen Grottoes is only 2 centimeters high. These small thousand Buddhas are located on the south wall of the Lotus Cave. They are vivid, detailed and lifelike.
