Madame Tussauds introduction: Madame Tussauds was born Marie Groschutz in Strasbourg, France. Her mother was the housekeeper of Dr. Philip Goldsch, who was also a very famous wax figure craftsman. It was he who taught Mary the wax figure making technique. Madame Tussaud died on April 15, 1850, at the age of 88. The wax museum continues to be on display under the management of her two sons, Joseph and Francis. In 1884, her grandchildren moved the wax museum to its current location in London, England. The iconic building, which had been damaged by the Great Fire of 1925 and the Second World War in 1940, was eventually rebuilt to become London's most famous attraction.
