Introduction to Almudena Cathedral: Almudena Cathedral (Catedral de la Almudena) belongs to the Neo-Gothic style. It was built in 1879 and was not completed until the end of the 20th century. It was opened by Pope Paul II in 1993. Although it is a brand-new cathedral, it is built on the oldest historical site in Madrid, the Roman city wall. There is a statue of Pope Paul II at the door of the church, which is solemn and sacred.
