Introduction to the Declaration of Independence Memorial Hall (Proclamation of Independence Memorial): Located south of the City Square and St. Paul's Hill, it was once the Malacca Club and was built in 1912. Today it houses photographs of Malaysia before and after independence and a portrait of Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia’s first prime minister. Visitors can see the historic documents, maps, treaties, video tapes, films, meeting minutes, press releases and information related to the fight for independence on display.
