Introduction to the Oresund Bridge: The Oresund Bridge was inaugurated on July 1, 2000. King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and Queen Margrethe II of Denmark attended the ceremony. The bridge has a total span of 16 kilometers and is the largest cable-stayed bridge ever built in the world. Malmö and Copenhagen, Denmark, on the other side of the river, rely on this important transportation thoroughfare to communicate with each other.
