Introduction to the Monument of the Begging Land: On the right wall of the vestibule is embedded the Monument of the Begging Land to commemorate the achievements of the King of Fujian. It was erected by the people of Fujian to commemorate the achievements of the King of Fujian in opening up the frontier. When Wang Shenzhi was governing Fujian, he paid great attention to agricultural production, and the people of Fujian were very grateful to him. From the Song Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, every spring, the Fuzhou County Sheriff would lead a group of officials to pay homage to the King of Fujian at the Temple of the King of Min, and beg for a pill of soil in front of the temple. Making a "Spring Ox" and then carrying the "Spring Ox" in parades to start spring plowing is the custom of Fuzhou's "Spring Ox".
