During the creation process of "Along the River During the Qingming Festival", clay sculpture experts carefully studied the main characteristics of the characters in the painting and shaped them according to the clothing characteristics of the Song Dynasty, striving to have both body and shape of the characters. At the same time, they strictly controlled the key steps such as clay selection, steel frame construction, mud piling, and decoration, which greatly improved the rain and sun protection capabilities of the clay sculptures.
