Introduction to the Gate Tower of the Presidential Palace: The Gate Tower of the Presidential Palace is the landmark building of the Presidential Palace. The original site was the first gate of the Liangjiang Governor-General's Office in the Qing Dynasty. During the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, it was the "True God Glory Gate" of the Celestial Palace. After the founding of the National Government, this Western classical porch-style building with a reinforced concrete structure was built in 1929. After several changes of ownership, it was not until April 23, 1949 that the People's Liberation Army planted the red flag on the gate tower of the Presidential Palace.
