Introduction to the Xungao Pillar Stone: There is a stele pavilion on the east side of the East Garden of the Presidential Palace, with a huge monument erected inside, called the "Xun Gaozhu Stone" monument. In October of the ninth year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1870), Zeng Guofan went to Nanjing for the third time to assume the post of governor of Liangjiang. Before leaving, it happened to be his 60th birthday. Emperor Tongzhi personally gave him the "Xun Gaozhu Stone" to reward his longevity. After Zeng Guofan arrived in Nanjing, he chose an auspicious day to carve a stone and erect a monument in the "Yu Shu Building" of the Liangjiang Governor's Office. Later, the monument was destroyed due to war. The stone tablet was unearthed here in 1990, moved to Xiyuan, and then moved back to its original location in April 2002.
